About Rolf Niemann

Author of coding and AI lessons

Rolf holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Hannover, Germany. He has been a high school teacher (physics, mathematics, and physics laboratory) for 20 years. Since 2015 Rolf works at the Vattenhallen Science Center at the university of Lund with the focus on teacher education.

For the last 3 years he has been collaborating with Paolo Sartorelli, Alessandro Dominici and Jesper B. Hall in EU projects inspired by the potential of chess as an educational resource.

Inside the project ‘Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Coding and Chess for Primary School’, approved by the EU Erasmus+ Programme, Rolf is the leading expert for the programming and AI part.

In the near future, he intends to contribute to the design and launch of a large international programme on STEM (& chess) for the whole cycle of primary school: from pre-school to year eight.

In the (rare) moments of free time, Rolf loves training traditional Japanese martial arts, fishing, cycling and paddling.
